abracadabra...

A substitute teacher in Florida has been fired, accused of "wizardry"...
I'm married to an educator. I know what it takes to grab the attention of kids these days, if only to get them to focus for one minute, to make a point, to distract them from the nether-world they inhabit, as they sit day dreaming, worrying about whether they are wearing the right kind of clothes, fretting about the social scene, trying to be cool... if performing a bit of sleight of hand gets them to stop wool gathering and actually pay attention to you for a few minutes, you've gained something. What does this say about the education system in Florida? What does this say about society in general? As one who is dedicated to "the old ways", as my grandparents used to call them, I've faced some scorn and been ostracized by some. I wonder if this fellow would have been fired if he'd quoted something from the devil's own book, the Koran, to make a point. I suppose that would have been OK. This stuff makes me sick. It just shows how uneducated society really is. I wonder just what some folks would think of me if they knew I practiced the craft? What next? Thumb screws? The Iron Maiden? Burning at the stake?

well, that's done...

thirty evergreens... drip watering system... no mulch yet, won't be delivered until later this week.

I'm beat...
It will be worth it in a few years when we have our privacy back, though.
Here's where we hang out at night and on the weekends...

I also planted two Hyacinth Bean plants that will grow up the trellis on the back of the house; low maintenance, lots of pretty purple flowers that look like snapdragons and some nifty bean pods, too.
Well, I'm going to grab a shower and something to eat and relax for the rest of the evening... back to the rat race tomorrow.
Wander on, friends...

Happy Birthday, Rev. Paul..!

I was wandering around the blog world a while ago and stumbled across this blog, Way Up North... very interesting place about life in Alaska. Plus, a cool moose picture! I love moose!
It's Rev. Paul's birthday today, why not jump over there, have a read and wish him a happy!

I'm tired...

this week sucked... I'm going to drink Stoley martini's until I either pass out or puke, or both. I don't want to think about politics, I don't want to think about the economy, the weather, sex, money, blogging, mooslimb scum, basketball or anything else. I'm just going to drink, listen to music and sit in the dark and brood... such a gothy thing to do, huh?
I think I'm just feeling old and ill-used right now. I'll be better in the morning, I'm quite sure...
I leave you with something to listen to...

Ellison's back in the swing of things, so my list is over at his place. I'd really love to sit down and chat music with him one of these days. Go say "hi" and post your own list.
