hell of a way to have to start a Saturday, huh..?

First, Tiger The Cat wakes me up at 4:25, just like every morning.

"hey... you awake? i'm hungry... hey... i'm starvin' here..."

I stumble down stairs, make her some breakfast, make me some coffee, put the news on and find out our Glorious Leader, The One, King Uppity the First decides that slashing the military budget is one way to finance his Socialist plan. So, hence the rant below. He really is a c**k sucker, isn't he?

So, anyway, that got the day off to a real bad start. I have much to do today, like taking the glass, plastic, cardboard and newspaper to the local county recycling center, so the grouchy old bastard who watches the place on the weekend can bitch at me for some imaginary offense to the recycling gods. We don't have to separate plastic from glass, so that just gets dumped into a big bin, but newspaper, office paper (including magazines and such) and cardboard need to be disposed of separately. The paper must be tied, using string, not wire, or in a recyclable bag. I tie mine with twine that I get from the local feed store. It's pure sisal twine. It's used to tie plants to stakes and such things like that and it's 100% biodegradable. The old fart yelled at me for using it because he said it's not strong enough to hold the bundles of papers securely and it might break and they could blow all over the place. I asked him if he had some special degree in tensile strength testing of natural fibers and he mumbled something surely obscene under his breath and stormed back to his little shack. One other time he accosted me for intermingling corrugated board with regular paperboard, saying that it made for extra work sorting it out at the recycling plant. I asked him why there weren't two separate bins, one for each style of board so the prisoners who are on work release programs at the recycling centers didn't have to strain themselves sorting brown corrugated board from printed paperboard, and, again, he mumbled some oath under his breath and stormed back to his little shack. I've been there when people have heaved old plastic garbage cans, plastic sheeting, vinyl siding and myriad other things into the plastic/glass bin, none of which are recyclable, and the little old fucker just sits there and watches them through his dirty window. He sees me pull up, who does everything by the book and he has to trot his ugly little troll ass out and harass me. I'm always pleasant, never raise my voice, justify my tasks by explaining what I'm doing or making him look like the ass he is and I go away. I'm beginning to get a complex over this. Perhaps he doesn't like the pony tail that hangs down to my ass, some sort of hippie-phobia. Can't blame him for that, he looks like he might have spent some time in the military in the sixties, maybe it's a Nam hangover thing. Or not... I can only assume he's one of the long time county employees who is friends with someone way up there who has hidden him away until he's too old to totter around any more, then let him retire with the bonus he's accumulated by never taking a vacation or sick day for forty five years. Probably some County Freeholder's father. One of these days I'm going to preempt him and as soon as I pull into the place, I'm going to run up to his little hovel and bang on the door and ask him to come out and look at what I'm intending on throwing into the bins to make sure it meets with his stringent regulations, although, on second thought, I'm not sure I want to see the inside of his "office", Bast knows what goes on in there during those long, lonely lulls between launching attacks on the recycling public...
That's just one of the merry tasks I have before me today. After the recycling center, it's off the my little post office to get the week's mail, then off to the lumber yard to get some stock to finish the window trim pieces that hold the sash in place so Mrs. SOG can hang her new shades and curtains in the living room before she beats me to death with them. Then I'm going to spend a pleasant evening, sitting in my new recliner, reading a book and looking up occasionally at a basketball game on the idiot box. I'm not going to watch the news...
See you later.

He is a lying, traitorous, America hater.
Some of his own words...

He will lead the way to bringing America to her knees... He is pursuing the same agenda as blow job Billy and we all know what went on while he was playing hide the Havana with his little slut intern...

1993
Feb. 26, New York City: bomb exploded in basement garage of World Trade Center, killing 6 and injuring at least 1,040 others. In 1995, militant Islamist Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman and 9 others were convicted of conspiracy charges, and in 1998, Ramzi Yousef, believed to have been the mastermind, was convicted of the bombing. Al-Qaeda involvement is suspected.

1995
April 19, Oklahoma City: car bomb exploded outside federal office building, collapsing wall and floors. 168 people were killed, including 19 children and 1 person who died in rescue effort. Over 220 buildings sustained damage. Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols later convicted in the antigovernment plot to avenge the Branch Davidian standoff in Waco, Tex., exactly 2 years earlier.
Nov. 13, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: car bomb exploded at U.S. military headquarters, killing 5 U.S. military servicemen.

1996
June 25, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia: truck bomb exploded outside Khobar Towers military complex, killing 19 American servicemen and injuring hundreds of others. 13 Saudis and a Lebanese, all alleged members of Islamic militant group Hezbollah, were indicted on charges relating to the attack in June 2001.

1998
Aug. 7, Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: truck bombs exploded almost simultaneously near 2 U.S. embassies, killing 224 (213 in Kenya and 11 in Tanzania) and injuring about 4,500. 4 men connected with al-Qaeda 2 of whom had received training at al-Qaeda camps inside Afghanistan, were convicted of the killings in May 2001 and later sentenced to life in prison. A federal grand jury had indicted 22 men in connection with the attacks, including Saudi dissident Osama bin Laden, who remained at large.

2000
Oct. 12, Aden, Yemen: U.S. Navy destroyer USS Cole heavily damaged when a small boat loaded with explosives blew up alongside it. 17 sailors killed. Linked to Osama bin Laden, or members of al-Qaeda terrorist network.

all of which led up to 9/11.

What date is history going to hang on you, Barry? What will be your 9/11? The sixth century scum has gotten a little more sophisticated over the years, Barry. They've progressed from truck bombs and rubber boats filled with C4 to the verge of being a nuclear power... thanks to folks like you who'd rather kiss the ass of the middle eastern despots than deal with them in the only way they understand...
Hope and Change... You're exactly right, that's just what America needs... I'm with Rush, I hope you fail and I hope we're in for a swift change in leadership. You've failed before you've even started, I just hope thousands of innocent American lives aren't lost while you fall on your face.

Botox Nancy apparently doesn't want to have the muzzies from Gitmo housed on The Rock... no sense using an already existing secure facility when Murtha can dig millions out of our pockets to build one in his district, even though there seems to be local opposition to that plan, but I since he was re-elected, majority will probably rule, if it comes to that.

*Not In My Back Yard...

On the home front, I've spent the weekend filling nail holes, sanding, priming and finish painting the new living room baseboards. After that it's the I have to make the stops for the window sash and install them, then the cove moldings to trim the new sheet rock between the beams in the ceiling, then I can start the bookcase and the mantle. I'm hoping to be done by the end of February with all that, then it's the new shutters for the bottom half of the three double hung windows and the new ceiling fan and that should just about wrap it up. Oh, that and the final wiring of the radiant heating system under the floor. By the time I get that done, we probably won't need it. Well, back to the paint brush.

Looks like Barry is picking up right where Clinton left off...

"Obama made this clear his first hour on the job. On Wednesday at 8 a.m., Obama made his first phone call to a foreign leader. He called PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah. During their conversation, Obama pledged his commitment to Palestinian statehood. Fatah wasted no time responding to Obama's extraordinary gesture. Wednesday afternoon Abbas convened the PLO's Executive Committee in Ramallah and the body announced that future negotiations with Israel will have to be based new preconditions. As far as the PLO is concerned, with Obama firmly in its corner, it can force Israel to its knees."

that boy's really rackin' em up...

Let's see... so far this week Barry's destroyed any hope of obtaining valuable security information from captured terrorists by banning anything harsher than asking them politely to spill the beans, by putting a halt to any type of "unsavory acts of torture", including running up behind someone and yelling "BOO!"...
And Barry's closing the detention camp at Gitmo, and already scum bag Murtha is offering to house the terrorists in his district, for a fee, of course. His district has no maximum security facilities, so you know there's another rat hole just waiting to be dug...
Barry also intends to sign legislation lifting the abortion ban on sending federal money (your money, folks) to foreign countries that would use it for abortions... I guess killing the unborn is not as nasty as getting high level security info out of living terrorists, is it..?
Barry is also likely to lift the ban on embryonic stem cell research, gotta find something to do with all those aborted fetuses, I reckon...
Been pretty busy for a guy who hasn't even seen the whole inside of the big house yet, isn't he? I guess he has a lot of people to pay back and wants to get it out of the way before he starts working on the important stuff...

the last day of America...

as I've known it. Obama must do the right things. He must quickly learn that he can't start screwing around with, or allow screwing around with the basic rights that made this country strong. He keeps hearkening back to "the founding fathers", which sounds all nice and warm and fuzzy like, but his path strays so far from theirs that I wonder if he knows how and why this free nation was devised, planned and fought for at all. He is compared to Lincoln. The car, perhaps, but never the President. He is called "the black JFK"... may the gods help us, we barely the lived through the original model, now we have the Ronco knock-off. Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that once the novelty of what he's accomplished (or, more realistically, his handlers and backers), the gravity of the world we live in snaps him out of his cloud and he lands with both feet running on our great American soil. I'm sure the Obama cultists will be running for the Kool-Aid when all the hopey-changey stuff starts falling apart. My two biggest fears are these; what will he do at 3 AM when that red phone rings, and will he keep his hands off the Constitution? My next biggest fear is that some idiot will try to do him or his family harm, not for his politics, but because of the color of his skin. Wrong, wrong, wrong. In my book, it's about time. That weight alone is enough to cripple him if he's not careful. President first, African-American second, Barry, with emphasis on the American part, OK? You're in charge of the country that made you possible. Do it right.

On the local front, I spent the day replacing the weather stripping on the living room windows, installing new sash locks and doing touch-up painting on the trim here and there, a relaxing day after a wonderful dinner last night with Mr. Bingley and his enchanting family, and the always fun Suzette. A good time, indeed. Great food and drink made all the better by their company. Thanks.
Well, back to the paint brush, I need to put a new coat of finish color on the trim around the picture window, I think the primer is probably dry by now.

what we can expect from Detroit...

once the Democrats have their hands in the auto making business..?

Probably not, thankfully. It's actually a Russian Soviet era "Factory Car", used to transport workers from their homes to the factory, or so I can gather from the description on the web page where I found it. It's a place called www.englishrussia.com, which is sort of a photo/link blog from Russia. Lots of cool pictures, like this and, sometimes, some interesting commentary. Like at the bottom of the article about these vehicles. Sage advice from someone who's been there.
I think we have more in common with the Russian people than the leaders of our countries would like us to believe...

Oh, wait. Sorry. Wrong group. Christians are able to see the humor in something like this, aren't they. Actually, I know it's supposed to be cute and funny, but it somehow conveys a pretty distinct message. Or maybe that's just me. But, can you imagine if that picture was altered a bit and "Jesus" was changed to "Mohammad"? The poor people at I Can Haz Cheezburger would have death threats leveled at them and the poor soul that created this rather funny picture would probably have to hire a security service to protect them from the islamo-fascist hordes. What a difference a little learning and some civilization can make, huh?

a night at the opera...

Aside from the white knuckle driving up to Newark, NJ in the snow and ice on the NJ Turnpike, surrounded by people who would be better off staying off the damned roads when the weather is anything other than severe clear and dry, the opera last night was good. Not great, but good, very good. It was a small production of Verdi's "Aida", by Teatro Lirico D'Europa, well done by this traveling company on a medium sized stage. This particular piece usually demands spectacle, but some good stage settings and proper lighting went a long way in setting the proper moods, especially in Act 3, which takes place in moonlight. The lighting was very effective and I almost felt as I was eavesdropping on the conversations taking place, rather than in the audience apart from them. A well picked and utilized fifteen piece chorus more than made up for the usual forty or so in a grand production and while the stage settings could almost be described as Opera-Minima, it is refreshing to sometimes experience a familiar work stripped down to the essentials, once you've seen the circus edition.
One thing that I was a bit leery of was the small orchestra, seated in a rather unconventional way, with cellos and brass all mixed in together and seated in a stage wide layout only a few rows deep, but once they got going, this seemed to work rather well and they filled the house with a properly balanced and precisely volumed score.
The performers were talented and carried well, although they seemed a bit tired or bored once in a while, which is one of the dangers of a traveling company. I don't know where in their schedule this performance fell, but I'm thinking that they were either looking forward to getting home or doing something new, or perhaps the weather had them a bit distracted as the house held the curtain a bit to allow late comers a chance to get in and seated. But,all in all, a satisfactory performance by a mostly Russian company. Well met, well met.

Well, off to run some early morning errands, then nothing the rest of the day but sofa and football. Have a wonderful day, friends.
