It is May Day...

The Beltane... The Day of Fire. Robin Goodfellow, the Green Man, holds sway today over we who celebrate the old ways. On this day is the turning of Winter into Spring, when earth is tilled and seeds are sown. The tune is turned and the dance is done, with ringing of bells and banging of sticks to awaken the sleeping world. The ale cup is passed from one to the other, and all gather about the bonfire and we are as one with each other and with the world...
How far man has strayed from the simple path. The lust for material things and loss of respect for life, all life, has poisoned the mind and killed the soul, and the chain that binds all to the Mother is broken. Man has denied his place in this simple universe and has sought to elevate himself in dominion of all natural things, forgetting his past and unable to see his future, save that which he denies shall be, for man is only interested in the now. His ignorance and his want have clouded his eyes and he has traded the simple joy of living with the Mother for trinkets and toys, glittering things that dazzle the eye and are hoarded away, lest other men should covet them. True beauty and true worth have fallen by the wayside and all has been taken for gain, to the ruin of all things...
Faint, these days, is the music that issues from the pipes of Pan... it can barely be heard over the senseless din of man...
Why has it come to this?

pearls before swine...
